Hospitals are often places that bring anxiety and worry for its visitors and patients. Architects and owners alike are well aware of this and have sought out many different products to address this. In modern times, they have looked to Kalwall’s high performing translucent building systems for comfort and wellness through its light quality.  The previous system was over 30 years old and had been recently in need of an upgrade to create a more inviting space for patients.

Matano Kang Architects out of Berkeley, CA was chosen by Kaiser Permanente to refresh its Union City campus canopies, large skylights and signage. Opening Technologies worked closely with General Contractor, Dome Construction, and original installer, Crown Sheet Metal & Skylights. The job was a success with new daylighting in both the interior skyroofs and exterior curved canopies creating a soothing feeling and asthetically pleasing look for occupants as they enter and exit the 4 campus buildings.  Kalwall creates a beautifully functional option to protect building users from the weather while generating a comfortable, diffused natural daylight.
